Backdated leases and past rent

Renting didn't start today? When you give a lease a start date in the past, Flatren can fill in the rent that was already due — so your payment history is complete from day one.

How backfill works

When you create or edit a lease with a start date at least one full rent period in the past, Flatren steps in with a sheet: "Backfill 6 past rents as already paid? We'll add them to your history so the timeline matches reality." with Yes, mark 6 as paid, No, leave empty and Change start date.

  1. Set an earlier start date

On the lease form, pick a start date that's at least one rent period ago. Flatren notices the gap and shows the backfill sheet.

  2. Choose Yes, mark 6 as paid

Flatren creates the rent rows that were already due — for example 6 past rents will be backfilled as paid.

  3. Nothing else to do

The past rents are added already marked paid — Paid on a solo lease, Confirmed on a paired one — and flagged as past payments. Each shows a Backfilled chip you can tap for details, and reminders and overdue badges skip them.

If you pick No, leave empty, the lease still starts from the date you set — Flatren just won't create the past rent rows for you.
